Williamsburg, VA, and Virginia Beach, VA – A meaningful impact-giving event benefiting Operation Smile raises awareness and funds by Newport Hospitality Group’s team members.
Newport Hospitality Group’s Leadership Conference last month in Virginia Beach inspired a vitalizing team fundraising event.
“We wanted a design an activity that would enrich the conference’s host city. We also wanted to sprinkle a bit of fun over our culture of inclusion and collaboration; after all, we are in the business of creating wonderful experiences for others,” said Andrew Carey, Chief Executive Officer of Newport Hospitality Group.
“While cleft surgery can transform a child’s life in as little as 45 minutes, Operation Smile is committed to addressing their patients’ cleft care needs throughout their childhood and adolescence so that they can realize happier and healthier futures. A patient may need the care of many specialists who work as a team to ensure the best long-term outcomes. Volunteers around the world conduct programs, partner with hospitals, and operate care centers to deliver the ongoing care our patients need and deserve.” — Operation Smile.
The innovative members of Laurie Campbell’s team had participants purchase glow sticks (donor gifts) to wear around their necks at the evening’s award ceremony and banquet. Working with local DJ Jeff Bristow, the Heads and Tails FUN-draising game had participants dance until the emcee tossed the coin, calling out the results, and guests struck a pose (putting their hands on their head or their “tail”). It was a novel way to engage the group for a worthy cause.
Newport Hospitality Group’s team members came together. They showed the incredible impact a focused and energized team can make together, raising $4,000, equating to nearly 17 surgeries for children with cleft conditions around the world.
