NHG’s annual Pink October campaign promotes awareness and support, with proceeds benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Williamsburg, VA — In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month Newport Hospitality Group turned pink in solidarity with anyone who has had their lives impacted by breast cancer.
“We are committed to helping raise awareness for breast cancer by hosting workplace and community activities displaying our pink for October,” said Wayne West III, Chief Operating Officer and President of Newport Hospitality Group.
The annual bake sale fundraiser sells out within a few hours. From cookies to bars, muffins to cupcakes, these creative NHG bakers have become quite competitive with one another. Laurie Campbell, Senior Regional Sales and Marketing Director who coordinated the event, has the 2022 bragging rights with her cookies being the first sell-out of sale.
The over $1,600 funds raised this year were donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. “The Breast Cancer Research Foundation aims to prevent and cure breast cancer by advancing the world’s most promising research. Since 1993, BCRF-supported investigators have been deeply involved in every breakthrough in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, metastasis, and survivorship. There are more than 3.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., and deaths from breast cancer have declined by 40% since 1989. More than 44,000 lives are lost to the disease each year.”
Lizz Chambers, the Vice President of Associate Engagement, added, “Breast cancer has impacted the lives of many of our partners and team members, and we are proud to support an organization doing important work to save lives and improve outcomes.”
Throughout October, companywide, NHG adopted casual Pink Mondays by wearing pink to show love and support for all the Breast Cancer Warriors. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting American women, other than skin cancer. “Together, we rise.”
