WILLIAMSBURG, VA (May 15, 2018) — Newport Hospitality Group, Inc. recently recognized its top performing teams of 2017 during the company’s recent Annual Leadership Conference and Awards Celebration, held in Myrtle Beach, SC. The 3-day conference was attended by Newport Hospitality Group corporate representatives and approximately 80 General Managers and Directors of Sales, as well as, Brand Representative and Vendors.
“At Newport we realize that it is becoming increasingly more difficult for our team members to find ‘balance’ due to the influence of technology and social media in both their personal and professional lives. Our leaders like all leaders today are asked to do more with less, to do it faster and by the way…do it better. At Newport, our Culture stresses family first. While we truly strive to maintain that part of our culture we feel that from time to time our team needs to be reminded that balance is the key to excellence. Therefore, at this year’s leadership conference our theme was designed to give our team members tools to ‘Recharge, Rethink and Renew’, stated Newport’s President and Chief Operating Officer, Wayne West III.
The “Recharge-Rethink-Renew” theme was emphasized throughout the conference. From expert presenters who challenged the team to “Rethink” to events such as “Sunrise Yoga” and “Morning Beach Runs and Walks” designed to help the team “Recharge” to connecting with Colleagues, Brand Representatives and Vendors that assisted the team to “Renew” past friendships and create new ones.
During the awards ceremony Newport recognized their top performers including Corporate Culture Associate of the Year, Lori Haas, Administrative Assistant at Newport Hospitality Group’s corporate office (voted on by the hotel leaders) and Supervisor of the Year, Kristin Peluso, Front Office Manager at the Comfort Inn and Suites Sanford, Florida.
