Richmond, VA – Newport Hospitality Group proudly celebrated excellence and achievement at its 2024 Leadership Conference, held on April 30th at the Marriott Richmond. Themed “Together We Thrive,” the conference gathered industry leaders, innovators, and partners for an evening of recognition and celebration.
The awards ceremony, adorned in roaring 20s Great Gatsby attire, showcased outstanding performances across various categories, highlighting the dedication and commitment of individuals and hotels within the Newport Hospitality Group portfolio.
Hilary Eason, Executive Admin, emerged as the deserving recipient of the Corporate Team Member of the Year award, recognizing her exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to Newport’s mission and values.
In the Financial Excellence category, The Suites At Yale New Haven claimed the Silver Level award, while Hilton Garden Inn Frederick, Home2 Suites Glen Mills, Residence Inn Blacksburg, and Towneplace Suites Columbia earned the Gold Level recognition. The Diamond Level award went to Hyatt Place Blacksburg / University, acknowledging their outstanding financial performance and efficiency.
Several hotels were recognized for their exemplary service in the Service Excellence category. Silver Service Excellence Winners included Hilton Garden Inn Columbia-Harbison, Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tappahannock, and Home2 Suites Glen Mills Chadds Ford. Gold Service Excellence Winners included Candlewood Fayetteville, Comfort Inn & Suites Sanford, Fairfield Inn & Suites Fayetteville, Holiday Inn Asheville East-Blue Ridge Pkwy, and SpringHill Suites Beaufort. Diamond Service Excellence winners were Hyatt Place Blacksburg and Sleep Inn Clintwood.
The prestigious Golden Wrench Award, symbolizing outstanding achievements in maintenance and engineering excellence, was claimed by Residence Inn by Marriott Blacksburg-University. Finalists included Candlewood Suites Fayetteville, Fairfield Inn & Suites Fayetteville, Homewood Suites Mt Laurel, Hilton Garden Inn Savannah Airport, and Hyatt Place Blacksburg.
Tania Ghanem of Hilton Garden Inn Frederick was honored with the Director of Sales of the Year award for her dedicated service and remarkable contributions. Finalists included Charlene Schutte of Courtyard Valley Forge/Collegeville and Courtyard Malvern.
Matthew Hoffman, General Manager of Hyatt Place Blacksburg / University, stood out as the recipient of the General Manager of the Year award, showcasing exceptional leadership and dedication to operational excellence. Finalists included Trevor Callender of Suites at Yale New Haven, Ryan Greene of Home2 Suites Glen Mills, and Ken Rogers of Residence Inn Blacksburg.
Hyatt Place Blacksburg / University was crowned Hotel of the Year, exemplifying outstanding service and operational proficiency.
