Andrew Carey oversees Newport Hospitality Group’s overall efforts at delivering memorable guest experiences, exceptional owner returns and meaningful careers. His experience in developing real estate, value creation and managing service companies provides a unique background to help NHG fulfill its mission of being the most admired hotel management company in the Eastern United States.
As CEO, Andrew works with each member of the senior team – from operations and sales to accounting and training – to ensure that all NHG-managed hotels receive the best possible expertise to enhance their respective reputations and financial performances. Additionally, Andrew handles the company’s capital transactions by dealing directly with investors, bankers and franchisors, thus providing him with unique insights into the specific needs of these key stakeholders.
Andrew started his career long ago as a ranch hand on the family farm before heading off to college at Duke University and earning his MBA from Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Well known for its real estate focus, he took advantage of UC Berkeley’s broad curriculum to ensure that his depth of skills transcended real estate into operational management. Andrew followed this by working at several investment and consulting organizations where he quickly learned the importance of building high-performing teams focused on well-defined goals.
When not travelling to look at hotels or work on deals, Andrew can be found in the office mingling with the team or creating memories with his family. Depending on the season, you might find Andrew out on his bike, skiing with his family in Vermont, or trying to coax sweetness from his bees or maple trees.
