Ashley Mackin is responsible for the overall management of Human Resources for Newport Hospitality Group, Inc. She originates and leads Human Resources practices and objectives that will provide an associate-oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and the recruitment and ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Ashley graduated with a degree in Hospitality Management and a minor in Tourism from Western Kentucky University. Prior to joining NHG, Ashley worked with Disney Resorts, Intercontinental Hotel Group, and Lasting Impressions Event Design and Planning. Ashley has worked for Newport Hospitality Group, Inc. since 2006. Ashley soon made a name for herself within Newport Hospitality Group, Inc. and because of her work ethic and experience she quickly rose within NHG’s ranks; first as Guest Services Manager, then Assistant General Manager, and finally NHG’s Internal Operations Auditor. Among Ashley’s many strengths is her ability to build relationships at all levels and facilitate positive ongoing communication between managers, associates, and departments. She commands respect and inspires associates (including owners and general managers) to embrace NHG’s core values and culture.
Ashley has a passion for Human Resource law and helping others achieve the highest levels of service excellence through training. Two of her primary objectives are (1) The development of an associate-oriented company culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement and high performance (2) The monitoring of property level safety and security initiatives in order to ensure our hotels maintain a safe and secure environment for our associates and guests alike.
Ashley is a member of the Society of Human Resource Management, Council of Hotel and Restaurant Trainers, American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Women In Lodging, on the American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Under 30 Gateway Committee, and the Young Emerging Professionals of Williamsburg. Ashley is also a Certified Hospitality Supervisor, a Certified Hospitality Trainer, and a Certified Guest Service Professional with American Hotel and Lodging Association’s Educational Institute. Ashley has earned her Professional in Human Resources certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute and SHRM - Certified Professional certification through the Society of Human Resource Management.
